Plot:
In the midst of political tension, Kaspar Spiess, the chief-inquisitor of the Emperor within the Holy Roman Empire, is dispatched to the Free City of Frankfurt. His mission: to recover stolen relics taken from the Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew.

Discontent is brewing within the city as the Imperial Free City, having endured years of conflict with the Protestant Schmalkaldic League, is now back under direct Imperial authority, with Catholicism reinstated.

The theft of invaluable relics from a Catholic church is a direct challenge to the Emperor's authority, and suspicion falls upon agents aligned with the Schmalkaldic League. An assault on the church is perceived as an assault on the empire itself, demanding swift action to recover the stolen relics.

With time being of the essence after arduous travels, there's no room for delay. The pursuit of the thieves and the recovery of the missing relics must commence promptly—such is the uncompromising demand of the Holy Roman Empire.

Insider's View of Frankfurt: Explore the City Like a Local

Frankfurt stands as one of the European Union's three cities boasting a significant number of skyscrapers, showcasing 11 towering structures, surpassed only by Paris and followed by London. Notably, the city takes pride in hosting Europe's two tallest skyscrapers, namely the Commerzbank Tower and the Messeturm. In contrast, Berlin holds the record for having the tallest skyscraper in Germany. Moreover, Frankfurt is home to Germany's largest airport.

As the largest city in the state of Hesse and the fifth-largest in Germany, Frankfurt's origins trace back to an ancient fort situated along the River Main. This historical foundation propelled its development and prosperity. Presently, Frankfurt reigns as Germany's financial and transportation hub, standing as the largest financial center in Continental Europe. Key institutions like the European Central Bank and the Federal Bank of Germany, alongside numerous major commercial banks, have established their headquarters within the city. Notably, Frankfurt ranks as the second most expensive city in Germany.

The story of Frankfurt transcends mere financial prominence. Despite enduring severe bombing during World War II, the city emerged resilient, akin to the mythical Phoenix, embodying team spirit, dedication, and an indomitable will to rebuild. This ethos, characterized by hard work, ambition, selflessness, discipline, and a deep-rooted love for their land, epitomizes the German spirit.

Contrary to misconceptions about the city being devoid of attractions due to its financial prowess, Frankfurt boasts numerous culturally significant structures. The riverbanks of the Main host a collection of 13 museums exhibiting a wide array of art, from classical to modern, inviting both time and investment, proving that Frankfurt is more than just a financial powerhouse.

Meininger Hotel Frankfurt: Ideal Accommodations in the Heart of the City

The hotel offers a pleasant stay at a relatively affordable rate of €85 for a room accommodating two people. However, it's important to consider additional costs such as taxes and transportation to the airport. While the hotel doesn't provide complimentary transport to the airport, there's a convenient bus service available for €3.5 per person when heading back.

Our experience at this hotel was so delightful that we joked about returning to Frankfurt just to stay here again! 😄 One of the standout features is the exceptional breakfast they offer—truly unparalleled compared to the hundreds of hotels I've visited. The breakfast spread was diverse and of high quality. From bottled water to a butter dispenser, honeycomb frames, live cooking stations, and 100% natural juices, they went above and beyond the typical offerings. They even had Champagne, a rare find during breakfast. I've been on cruises and stayed in 5-star hotels, but nothing quite matched this level of variety and quality.

It was amusing to witness a stewardess equally amazed by the breakfast offerings— a testament to how exceptional it truly was. 😂 Besides the remarkable breakfast, the hotel also boasts a top-floor swimming pool and a fitness room for guests. Although we didn't get to try them out due to time constraints, we would consider returning to Frankfurt just for this hotel, even if not for the city itself!
