Not far from the center is a small oasis - Parque Gómez Felipe, a gorgeous, well-kept mosaic park with greenery of local fauna. This park is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic lunch. There is also a playground for children (or youngsters).

14. The Ruta de los Volcanes: One of the most challenging hikes in La Palma

Are you looking for a new hiking challenge? If so, you'll want to check out the Ruta de los Volcanes ( Volcano routes) on the island of La Palma. This 24-kilometer hiking route takes you through the Cumbre Vieja National Park.

Covering the southern side of La Palma, the Cumbre Vieja National Park is an active volcanic ridge and has a wide variety of protected plant and animal species. Along the way, you will see wonderful views of volcanic cones and craters, as well as pine forests and dark-colored volcanic earth.

The hike itself is not for the faint of heart; it's a challenging hike that will take at least six hours one way for most hikers. However, the views are more than worth the effort. But if you are not ready for such a long journey, don't worry, this park also has shorter hiking trails where you can admire the volcanic area.

If you're looking for an unique experience, you can also try your hand at the 5km Tajogaite Volcano Trail, which follows the path of the most recent eruption in 2021 in La Palma. Unfortunately, this is still a no-go zone for the time being due to the gasses that are still being released, but you can do it with an experienced guide, so be sure to book a once-in-a-lifetime hike.
